The party is over for AKB48

Today I will review the AKB48 coupling song of their single ''Suzukake Nanchara''. It is called ''Party is over'' and is included in the Type A of the single.

First, can I say HOW happy I am to finally have a song just consisting of AKB48 members?? Since the sister groups all have their own song on this single, there is no member of them in this song. Yossh! *cough*
Okay back to this song. Hm, ''Party is over''.. doesn't that remind you of something? Yep, AKB48's very first stage song is called ''Party ga hajimaru yo'' (The party begins). Does this mean the end of AKB48?? *shock* Well, I don't think so.. But I guess it shows the change between the genrations and the near end for the older generations. Adding to that is the Kenkyuusei center Owada Nana who definetely is a symbol for the new ones, since she is from the 15th gen. The three musketeers have a really important role so there are many young girls in this line up. The song is very interesting. It starts with a mysterious feeling because of a  man choir who sings something in latin (?). But except for that and an odd breakdown in the middle the song is pretty relaxing and quiet. The arrangement is interesting and not something I would have excepted from AKB48. With the constant piano playing and pretty melancholic melody it has a dark feeling. Especially the Party is over and Starting over parts are very soothing and beautiful. This is such an original song and a nice change from the usual stuff. The video is also pretty different:

First of: All the members have dark clothing so it's a nice beginning.
And Nana looks like a boss in the middle..

Everyone looks pretty serious!

Nana: Don't come closer!

Nana: Or do you want to die??

Yes, like a boss..

Nana: Let's end this party!

''Aidoru naritai''
Someone wants to be an idol?

Serious Mayu..

Serious Takamina..

Yuko: This song IS serious! Especially for us older people..

Paruru: You wanna die??

Ah, so they are reading the newspaper..

Mako: What's this?
Owada Nana: Sounds interesting..
Okada Nana: This is cool!

(Why are their names so similiar???? I will just go with Nana for Owada and Naachan for Okada)

Nana: We want to be Idols!!

But we are still normal girls..

Naachan quality!
And the unifuorms look somehow dark and sad..

The things they have in their hair look interesting and creative..
And Mayuyu looks somehow sad..

Yeay, Mako..

And Annin seems to be in the same room. But her part is edited so she is from another time or something?

Mako: Well, that's because 14th gen is the new gen now!!

Rina: What??

Nana is still reading the magazine..

Oh hey Paruru..

What? Whom do these legs belong to?

Nana: I know it!!

Soooo who is it?

It's the princess, Naachan!! **

Nyan: But I'm princess!
No, you are the queen ;)

Yukirin is so beautiful here..

Miki is on the stairs.

More of the overlapping scenes..
This time it's Miichan.

Hey Miichan!

More seriousness!

Paruru: So you don't wanna die?
No.. :'D

Put them legs up in the air!!

Finally, it's about time for Yuko to appear..

But she of course looks great!

Yep, the grannies aren't featured that much..

Paruru: They aren't even that much older than us..

Mayuyu: I just realized that I'm also growing older.. Oh no!!

Nana: That's why we are here!

Naachan: wNana!!
She totally fits into that classic/ dark/ old style!

Nana: wNana? Okay, why not..

Nana: I wanna be an Idol!!

Starting over with the newest generations!!

Miichan: And what's with us..

Mayuyu: We will graduate?

Takamina: Graduating? What is that?

Yuko: I guess we should all think about it..
No, not you Yuko.. -.-

Yukirin rocks!!

KojiYuu!!

Wait, where's Mako?

And where's Nana?
And what are these red bags?

Oh hi Rena! Seems like she's still getting the usual push ;)
Also, one of the last times without bangs.. Now she's even more bland..

Miki still on the staircase.. Nice place to chill :'D

Oh yeah, Naachan!

Getting closer.. if this isn't epic

Oh, the water is a mirror.. that looks quite interesting

Ah, Mariyagi..
Yattaaaaa *party hard*

Please let her be a regular.. Kyaa, Mariyaaaa..

Right, and where has Yuihan been all the time?

Naachan..

More Naachan in the chaotic room.

Mayuki.

Naachan??? This is ceepy.. She looks so unemotional..

These random pictures look odd.

Naachan?? :(

Finally! Yuihan's only solo shots..

Yuihan awesomeness!

This looks also pretty epic.. especially with the music

Naachan.. she looks a bit like a robot now.. Well, ASD77, right ;)

And here is Naachan's picture..

That's so random..

So there's tomato soup in the bags?
Interesting.

Let's dance!!

Taking a closer look at the things in Naachan's room, there is a pistol!!
Okay, this video seriously has a creepy feeling.

The young girls start dancing now..

Nana definetely has fierce here!

And Naachan's dancing looks great!

Ah, the end of the creepiness?
They are back outside..

Nana is all happy now. And Naachan is normal again.. puuh..

The four look so happy now.. But what's that? There's an advertise for the tomato soup.. Oh, oh..

Well, Naachan doesn't care. She only has eyes for Nana.
Definetely wNana!

The futur is here!!

Back to reality, the old gens are still there..

Nana overlapping with several members.

Is that Yukirin's hand??

Party is over for the old generations.

And the new generations are still reading the Idol magazine.. They are still learning!

Everyone except for Nana runs away..

Nana: Wait for me!!

The scanner..

And the END!

So this video is defintely very interesting and different. It clearly shows the change between the generations since Nana + the 3 Musketeers are feautured the most and sing the Starting over parts while the older generations (mostly Takamina, Yuko, Haruna and Yukirin) sing the Party is over parts. The young girls are reading the Idol magazine and still have to learn a lot. The scenes in the seperate rooms seem a bit creepy, especially Naachans. I don't really get this one but it's kind of cool and gives the video a dark and creepy tone. The whole video is mostly focused on the new girls and it's sad that we don't see that much of Yuihan & co but I guess it's important for the meaning of the song so I won't complayin. And I got lots of Naachan here!!
All in all this video seems classy at first but has a deep meaning for the futur of AKB48 so it is really interesting to see. This video is also something they've never done before and shows the group in another light. Some may not like that, but I love the video and the song.

  1. The lyrics also has a dark feeling.... It's about broken home child's life.

    1. Oh, you're right, thanks for pointing that out. I've read the lyrics now and they are indeed pretty sad. Akimoto amazes me again with his brilliant lyrics! :)
