Regarding the attack on AKB48 Team A's Kawaei Rina and Iriyama Anna

So I guess every AKB48 fan or Japanese Idol fan in general already heard about it, but a 24-year-old man attacked Kawaei Rina, Iriyama Anna and a staff member with a little saw on an AKB48 Handshake event. AKB48's Theater manager Yuasa Hiroshi now explained the conditions of the hospitalized people:
Kawaei fractured her thumb of the right hand, and got slashed on her right arm. Iriyama also fractured her pinky finger of the right hand, and got slashed on her head area and right arm. Both of them received surgeries to join the edges of the wounds. The theater manager also revealed that those two are able to have clear conversation, and they looked calm right before the surgeries.Along with the two members, there was a male staff member who also got injured, but none of them are life-threatening.

Now, I don't really know how I should put into words what I'm feeling right now. It's mostly shock about the incident and fear for the health of the girls, mostly their psychological health. It's also anger at the criminal and no comprehension at all. I mean, how can you go out and hurt two young girls who didn't do anything wrong? They do everything for their fans to be happy, they sacrifice their ordinary life so how can you just go and attack them? First Sasshi's death treat and now this, I seriously believe that some members' antis are really hardcore. But in 8 years something like this never happened before. What is happening now? Is it because of Sousenkyo? I just don't understand it at all.. What will the members think? They seem to be in shock and I can understand that really good! Not only Annin and Ricchan, who are still in hospital, but also the other members who saw the attack and the blood.

And let's not forget about the staff member, who also got injured. If not for him, what would have happened to AnRi? I don't want to think about it, but after all, the attacker was accused of wanting to kill them. He probably would have succeeded if not for the staff member, so I'm relieved the staff is really caring for the girls. I wonder how future AKB48 events will go on though.. It will probably be a lot harder to meet the ''Idols-you-can-meet'' now, thanks to this guy. I hope management does everything for the girls' safety and that there will me more security checks in the future at handshake events. Also, I'm sure the girls will feel a lot more insecure now. They might have a trauma or something, which will make it really hard for them to ever participate in events again. I don't doubt that some are thinking about graduation. Rina is 19 and Anna is 18, which is pretty young, but there are even younger girls, who are only like 12 and whose parents probably have a lot of fear for their girls now.

And how will this incident effect the Idol world in general? And the fans? If a Mayu-kick causes anger over several Idol fandoms, imagine what this one will do.. Any fandom would hate to see something like this happening to their Oshi, be it a Momosu, Momoiro Clover Z or an AKB48 fan. After all, they are all Idols and they all entertain us.

Of course, there may be girls we don't like, but that's no reason to send them hate comments or to attack them! At the end of the day they are all just young girls who perhaps got a better push than others or just looked a bit bored (-> Paruru). Isn't this 'real'. Don't you want to see your Oshi's real reaction? But if you don't like her, of course that's fine. Just please don't hurt her!

Let's hope that Rina and Anna will recover soon and that they will show their smiles again. I will support them, even if they decide to graduate or not. Let's also hope that the other members are doing fine. I hope they will soon update their g+ and twitter accounts, so that we can see how they are.

  1. I wasn't pleased when I first read about what happened to these poor girls, I thought "what is wrong with this person?, how dare he hurt two girls who did nothing wrong".
